This Open Mouth Vase or jar has a wonderful grain and woody appearance. Melvin uses a simple storage jar form to show off the wood: Florida Sweet Gum.
The storage jar is common to the ceramics of many cultures and is a favorite shape in Melvin's "repertoire of form"..

Sweet Gum Has
a medium tight grain, somewhat like mahogany, but with a greenish-brown color including some interesting yellows..
